2018-2019 School Choice Lottery Selectee Registration
This Registration is only for those who are new and have received a School Choice Lottery Acceptance Letter for the 2018-2019 school year.

2018-2019 Selected Students must attend one of the following registration’s dates promptly at 5pm in the Auditorium (Please bring a copy of acceptance letter):

  • April 30th
  • May 2nd

It is mandatory to attend one of the above Registrations for newly accepted students for the 2018-2019 school year. Failure to do so will result in losing seat/acceptance.

AMHS Tennis Team News
The AMHS tennis teams competed in the Region 5 AAAAA region tournament held on Tuesday, April 10th at the Clayton County Tennis Center .  Seven  schools participated. The girls varsity tennis team are the Region 5 Runner Ups, bringing another trophy home to Arabia to match last year's runner up title. They won overall matches against Clarkston and SW DeKalb.  The boys tennis team placed 4th in the region. Both the boys and girls tennis teams qualifid for the first round of the state playoffs.  Way to go RAMS Tennis!
Georgia Laws of Life Essay Winners!
Congratulations to AMHS Junior Patra Williams and Senior Samirra Smith for being named winners of the Georgia Laws of Life Essay Contest.  Also, Janel Ellzy and Arantza Pena both recevied Honorable Mentions in the Junior division and Janai Tucker received Honarable mention in the Senior division.  A Law of Life is a short saying or quotation reflecting a core personal value or ideal.  The Georgia Laws of Life Essay Contest, sponsored by Georgia Rotary Clubs, asks students to select their own Law of Life, and to write about how it applies to their lives. Students reflect and write from the heart about what they think matters most. The contest celebrates the students’ stories and their often profound reflections, and proudly presents significant cash awards to students and teachers.   
AMHS Student Receives National Art Honor
 AMHS Junior, Arantza Pena, has receive the 2018 Gold Medal Scholastic Art and Writing Award from the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers!  Arantza will be honored at Carnegie Hall in New York City at the National Ceremony held on June 7th.  Her work was selected out of almost 350,00 entries from students in grades 7-12.  This places her her in the top 1% of all submissions.  Congrats Aranzta! 
AMHS Student Emcees National Entrepreneurial Event
Congratulations to AMHS Sophomore, Asia Thurmon, for being selected nationally as a youth presenter at this year’s Operation Hope Global Youth Entrepreneur Pitch  Competition.  Last year, Asia won this event and was awarded $1500 for her business, EZ Party Pack.  She pitched her business to CEO’s from Gallup, Huntington Bank, and Ariel Investments and the event was attended by business leaders from around the world.  Because of last year’s win, Asia served as the emcee for this year’s event which was held March 26 & 27th, 2018 at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, where she provided testimony to other young business leaders.  We are proud of Asia’s accomplishments, representing Arabia Mountain High School and the DeKalb County School District at this nationally recognized business leader event.  For more information about Hope Global Forums, please click here
AMHS Orchestra Performances
The AMHS Orchestra recently performed at their the Large Group Performance Evaluation, under the direction of Ms. Jennifer Derringer, where the group received all Superiors.  Addtionally, twenty-one orchestra students travelled with Ms. Derringer to Universal Studios as part of the STARS Univeral Studios Program.  They performed at the park and then enjoyed the day exploring Universal and the Island of Adventure.  
AMHS Dance & Drama Students Attend Dance Canvas 2018

Ten AMHS Dance and Drama students went to the Ferst Center for the Performing Arts at Georgia Tech to see the Dance Canvas 2018 student performance. Dance Canvas is a company that brings Atlanta Dance Artists together with Atlanta dancers and creates a show. This year Dance Canvas showcased choreography by Lonnie Davis Jr., Marci Lefkoff, Dana Woodruff, Jennifer Davis, Analee Traylor, and several more. The students had the opportunity to see ballet, modern, jazz, and tap dance works, as well as learn a little bit about how each choreographer put together each dance. The students were also given information about scholarships for summer dance programs. 

AMHS Engineering Department Shines at the State Competition!
Please, don't ever underestimate the power of the Arabia Mountain High School's Engineering and Technology and Energy Pathway students advisors, and parent chaperones! Under the leadership of Shenica Bridges Mathieu, Fabian Bowman, and Itamar Roberts, the Arabia Technology Student Association (TSA) Members placed in multiple competitions at the Georgia TSA State Conference in Athens, GA March 15-17, 2018. They are qualified to compete in the TSA National Competition in Atlanta, GA on June 22-26,2018 at the Georgia World Conference Center. This ranking places the Arabia Mountain High School TSA chapter in the top 5% of over 250 chapters and 25,000 students in the state. 
Congrats AMHS Wind Symphony!
Congratualtions to the AMHS Wind Symphony for receiving Superior Ratings on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the District IV Large Group Performance Evaluation.  The individual scores were 2 Superior and 1 Excellent rating on their stage performance and a Superior Rating on Sightreading.  Great job to our AMHS band students!
Congrats AMHS Symphonic Band!
Congratualations to the AMHS Symphonic Band earned Excellent ratings at the 2018 Large Group Performance Evaluation.  This group is comprised of students primarily in ninth grade along with students who are not enrolled in a band class this year. Great job to our AMHS band students!
Congrats AMHS HOSA Students
Congratulations to our AMHS HOSA students who participated in the HOSA Leadership Conference.  Akosua Agyemang placed first in the prepared speaking Georgia HOSA competitive event. Teams made up of Taylor Boyce and Mosopefoluwa Olajide as well as a team that included Kristen Carter and Jordyn Mosely all placed in the top ten in the health career display HOSA competitive event. Our Arabia Mountain High School chapter president Richard Nawakamma was awarded a HOSA scholarship. All participating students competed at a high level.
AMSH Science Fair Winners
Congratulations to our Science Fair Winners who competed in the DeKalb Regional Science and Engineering Fair on February 3rd, 2018.  Students who were place winners included Janae Baker, Christina Chatman, Lyric Gordon, Richard Nwakamma, Trevon King, Tatyana Starr-Newson.  For a detailed list of awards, click through.  
AMHS 2018 Reading Bowl Team
The 2018 AMHS Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team completed a successful season for the 2017-2018 School year.  The team took 1st Place honors at the DeKalb County competition and 3rd place at the Metro Atlanta Regional competition.  Team members worked hard and did an awesome job representing Arabia Mountain High School.  Congratulations to our 2018 Reading Bowl Team!

After School Loitering Policy
All students who are not participating in school-sponsored activities must vacate the building and leave the premises no later than 4:00pm daily. This is in accordance with state law and the DeKalb County Student Code of Conduct.  Click Here to download the 2015-2016 letter from Mr. Swanson to all AMHS parents explaining this policy in detail.

Vickie B. Turner is an educator with over 24 years of experience and is a 20+ year DeKalb County resident. She is co-pastor of Augustine Chapel with her husband. Turner has a Masters of Education from Troy State University and a Bachelors of Science from Bowling Green State University. She currently oversees the day-to-day operations of The Augustine Preparatory Academy of Atlanta (TAPAA) which was formed from Cathedral Academy (est. 1984).
