AMSH Science Fair Winners
 
Congratulations to our Science Fair Winners who competed in the DeKalb Regional Science and Engineering Fair on February 3rd, 2018.  Students who were place winners included Janae Baker, Christina Chatman, Lyric Gordon, Richard Nwakamma, Trevon King, Tatyana Starr-Newson.  For a detailed list of awards, click through.  
 
AMHS 2018 Reading Bowl Team
 
The 2018 AMHS Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team completed a successful season for the 2017-2018 School year.  The team took 1st Place honors at the DeKalb County competition and 3rd place at the Metro Atlanta Regional competition.  Team members worked hard and did an awesome job representing Arabia Mountain High School.  Congratulations to our 2018 Reading Bowl Team! 
 
CTAE Attends Leadership Institute

 The Arabia Mountain High School Career Technical and Agricultural Education department kicked off CTAE week by taking 35 CTAE pathway students on a two-day field trip to a five-star training center and private hotel called The Allen Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute which is in our very own city of Stonecrest, Georgia.  

 
AMHS Ladies Basketball Recognized
 The AMHS girls basketball team was recently recognized as Team of the Month by the DeKalb County High School Basketball Tip Off Club. Congrats Ladies!!
 
 
AMHS Science Bowl Team Receives 1st Place!
During the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineer's 44th annual  conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 11 students participated in the STEM weekend science fair/science bowl competition. AMHS science bowl teams competed against 10 teams from across the country. Both AMHS teams made it to the semi-final round. Rams 1 was eliminated during the semi-final round. Rams 2 competed in the championship round and won first place in the Bowl competition.  Please click through for further results:  
AMHS TSA Hosts Biotech Day

The AMHS Technology Student Association (TSA) hosted "Shire Biotechnology - Rare Disease Day" on October 13, 2017.  Engineers, Scientists, and Human Resource Professionals spent a whole day at Arabia Mountain engaging with over 350 students in activities while informing our students about the wonderful jobs within the field of biotechnology that are located only 20 minutes away from Arabia Mountain High School at the Shire facility in Social Circle, GA. They also got a chance to see how Shire, our Arabia Mountain High School business partner, helps students all over the world who have diseases with the products that they manufacture.  Click Here to view pictures from the event.
 
AMHS Teacher Awarded STEM Grant
AMHS Engineering teacher Mrs. Shenica Bridges Mathieu was awarded a $300 Mini Grant from the Georgia Department of Education for the Technology Student Association's (TSA) Animatronics team on Tuesday 10/24/17 at the Georgia STEM Forum in Athens, GA. Click Here to view pictures from the event.  
AMHS Students Present to City of Stonecrest
The AMHS Technology Student Association, Vex Robotics, and National Society of Black Engineers officers presented at the City of Stone Crest's Future City Initiative on October 12, 2017. Councilwoman Diana Daniels Adoma invited our youth, and the Major of StoneCrest, Jason Larry, was also in attendance. Click Here to view photos from the event.
 
AMHS FFA Students Attend Workshop
Arabia Mountain High School's Future Farmers of America Chapter attended the Natural Resource Conservation Workshop June 11-15, 2017. Located on the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia, FFA members were able to experience college life while they attended different classes and learned about the wide variety of natural resources in the great state of Georgia. They also discovered different ways to conserve those resources so that those resources will be available for future generations.  FFA members were given the opportunity to build new relationships and participate in fun activities such as, boating safety, fishing, archery, and shooting rifles. The members of the Arabia Mountain FFA Chapter that attended were Isaiah Teasley, Anthony Peebles, Imani McIntosh, Danielle Henegan, and Monica Dowd.
 
Visit to GSU International Center
AMHS AP Spanish and International Club Students visited the Georgia State University International Center on September 29th.  The primary objective of the event, sponsored by Center for Urban Language (CULTR), was to motivate students to prepare to enter the global workforce by promoting the study of languages.  It was a great day and an awesome experience for the students and teachers!

After School Loitering Policy
All students who are not participating in school-sponsored activities must vacate the building and leave the premises no later than 4:00pm daily. This is in accordance with state law and the DeKalb County Student Code of Conduct.  Click Here to download the 2015-2016 letter from Mr. Swanson to all AMHS parents explaining this policy in detail.

Vickie B. Turner is an educator with over 24 years of experience and is a 20+ year DeKalb County resident. She is co-pastor of Augustine Chapel with her husband. Turner has a Masters of Education from Troy State University and a Bachelors of Science from Bowling Green State University. She currently oversees the day-to-day operations of The Augustine Preparatory Academy of Atlanta (TAPAA) which was formed from Cathedral Academy (est. 1984).
