AMHS Student Accomplishment!
Torrance D. Allen II, a 12th grade Arabia Mountain High School student, was selected to participate in the Accounting Career Awareness Program  (ACAP) over the summer break. The program was sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and was a week-long summer residency program that provided minority high school students with the opportunity to learn more about careers in the field of Accounting. Participants were selected from various high schools, both in Georgia and from other states. During the program, students were housed on the campus of Emory University and visited some of Atlanta’s top Fortune 500 companies to network with Accounting and Finance professionals. They also toured select colleges and universities in the metropolitan Atlanta area and were paired with other high school students in a business case study competition. At the culmination of the week, teams presented their case studies to a panel of judges. The program offered a first glimpse into the world of Accounting careers and students were encouraged to maintain connections as they continue to narrow their career interests.

AMHS Receives College Success Award
Arabia Moutnain High School recently received the GreatSchools 2018 College Success Award.   This honor recognizes 814 high schools across nine states that have a successful track record of going beyond simply graduating students to helping them enroll in college and succeed once they get there.

The College Success Award-winning high schools stand out based on school-level postsecondary data collected and shared by their states. This data tells us whether students enroll in college, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist on to their second year. The award-winning schools are located in nine states where this postsecondary data is available.
