AMHS Celebrates TSA Week

Our Engineering and Energy students had a fantastic learning experience this past week ending our TSA Week celebration. We went on three amazing trips, and we are so thankful to have an administration team, teachers, and parents who support the success of our students.

Monday, October 10, 38 students participated in Georgia TSA Tech Day at the Georgia National Fair in Perry, GA, and we placed 10th in the state in Pin Design! CLICK HERE to see the photos from the event.

Thursday, October 13, 23 students attended the National Action Council for Minority Engineering conference (NACME). Several students were award winners in the Smart Home Design competition:
  • 1st place: Chloe Pickett ($100)
  • 2nd place: Logan Gregory & Daysha Edwards ($50)
  • 3rd place: Jaden Caldwell ($25)
In addition, students met with over 20 schools with engineering programs at the college fair, received several free gifts, and were featured in an article. CLICK HERE to check out the articleCLICK HERE for photos from the NACME Conference.

Friday, October 14, we ended the week at Georgia Tech for the Georgia Tech Society of Black Engineers Pre-College Initiative Day. Forty-two AMHS students learned directly from college students about preparing to attend Georgia Tech. Director of the Office of Minority Educational Development, Dr. Sybrina Atwaters, gave an outstanding presentation on the return on investment of a college degree. Students received several gifts to take home such as earbuds, notebooks, mugs, and tumblers. CLICK HERE for photos from the event.
