Welcome to Chess Club
Arabia Mountain Chess Club
Where: D208 (Dr. Pfleger)
When: Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 (starting in November)
Whether or not you have seen Netflix brilliant series “Queen’s Gambit”, you know that chess is a spirited competition where players match wits over the 64 squares of board half covered in pieces.
Chess players learn not just logic and patience but creativity and deliberation. Research has shown that
children’s test scores improved significantly when they took chess classes, and other studies indicate that students’ self-esteem rises and their self-image improves.
Although we will be meeting in the classroom again this year, you might want to check out the chess.com site where 30 million players of all abilities come to learn and compete. The site has puzzles, demonstrations, and of course competition.
